Love.. Unburden Me Please (A Poem)

LOVE.. UNBURDEN ME PLEASE (A Poem)

I had a dream
That I would experience
Everything my heart claims it believed
Love was its favourite idea
And my lips never seized
In proclaiming its praise

To the broken hearted
I inspired with every passion
Trying to get my heart to believe more
It took me sweat and mending

Others who believed less of love
Have had their hearts graced by it
But me, its custodian,
It left in hopeless abandon

Tears had become my fallen angel
My only companion
As I watch love vows exchanged
At the altar and
At romantic rendezvous

This is the umpteenth time
I'm deserted
Love I thought you loved my faith
I thought you'd compensate
If not for anything,
For all the wretched hearts I turned to you

Today I thought
I finally found love
He said those words gracefully and carefully
Handpicking them in total surrender and meaning

The sky got bluer
And the stars shone brighter,
Each time he said my name
He wanted me cos I understood his highs and lows
I was a perfect fit
I thought my best days were about unfolding

But now!
I found out he wasn't alone
When he said he missed me
When he said he needed me, his heart was someone else's
My heart suddenly gained some pounds
And drowned me in his deception

Now am reminded of my unfortunate sentence
Perhaps I've been gifted to the god of love
To die alone serving it
I found my purpose
But in despair and sorrow
Ushering broken souls to Cupid

Let my days go before me
Let my heart drown in this nightmare
May I never see another day on earth
What am I living for?
If all I had is gone and was never mine

Love Unburden Me Please.....
