Love Untrustworthy Poem by Andy Barrette

Love Untrustworthy

Can I tell a new-found beauty
that she is unique
or would this be a stretch of truth-
a white lie, so to speak?
For as I see what I perceive
as the next greatest thing
I just can't help but wonder
what the bright future will bring.

In the end I have to wonder
why this ends in pleasure;
Surely such a common feeling
cannot be a treasure.
And, if I find that new encounters
come with the same lust,
whose to say that this emotion
will be worth my trust.
