Lover At The Lakes Poem by Harini Sasi

Lover At The Lakes

feeling a shake run through my skin
i'm not the person i once have been
she, she was just a dreamer
and, she, she was a believer
but i'm not

sinking under water, hand reaching at the top
once was love, and twice was enough
and i couldn't stop, oh i couldn't stop
going back to the seashore where we laugh-
oh we laughed, till the sky turned orange
and we talked, till it seemed that strange
this is not what i thought

he's a pillar, and i'm a stick
i'm drowning in tears but he clenches his fist
like there's something to believe in-
oh darling, is there anything to believe in
anymore? anymore?

and i sat crying at the lakes,
crying till the oceans invaded
crying till the tides faded
it was the only thing i never hated
but now it's gone, it's gone, gone, gone, gone

and i write in water, everytime i say i love you
it won't remain, i won't remain the same
and you know you won't
we're somehow flyers without wings,
and i've tore mine a billion years ago
now my skin's all dried up, come
come wet me right where i'm

sitting and crying at the lakes
i'll cry till the oceans invade
i'll cry till the memories fade
and everything becomes something i hate
so it'll go, it'll go, it'll just go, go away

lover at the lakes, i'm,
i'm dying with no trace, i'm
still crying at the lakes
