Lovers And Friends Poem by Marilyn Lott

Lovers And Friends

Rating: 5.0

It was right for us, I knew it was
I knew it right away.
My friendship grew, so did my love
‘Til I loved you night and day.

And then one night it happened
While talking on the phone,
I wanted you – you wanted me
And soon we weren’t alone.

My hands and mouth discovered you
Your textures rough and smooth.
The smell, the feel, the taste of you
The way your body moved.

Your touch was soft against my skin
Your mouth was like a dream.
We blended oh, so perfectly
Like heaven has to seem.

My God, how sweet the memories!
I’ll keep them in my heart
No matter where our lives may lead
Together or apart.

I love your mind and body
What else is there to love?
It’s all right here inside me
You’re my answer from above.

You can’t allow yourself to say
The things I’d like to hear.
But it’s all right my love it is,
They’re not words I have to hear.

But please, my darling, don’t forget
How much you mean to me.
I’ll love you now and always
Through all eternity.

But if it doesn’t work for us
I’ll try to understand.
I’ll be here my love, yes, here for you
Just reach out for my hand.

Great rhythm, I almost would have ended it a stanza early, but that; last throws some reality back into it.
