LOVERS II Poem by Jorge Gaitán Durán

LOVERS II

We confronted the body nakedly
like two mistaken angels,
like two red suns in a dark forest,
like two vampires at the rise of the day,
lips that look for the jewel of the moment between two thighs,
mouth that seeks mouth, standing statues
that in stone invent the kiss
just for a lightning of mixed bloods
to cross invincible death that calls upon us.
Standing like sluggish trees in the summer,
seated like drunk gods
so that they burn me in the dust your two stars,
laying like soldiers of two countries separated by the dawn,
in your body I am the fire of the being.
