! ! ! M U S C L E S Poem by Inner Whispers

! ! ! M U S C L E S

Rating: 2.4

I am seated here
Resting tired muscles
From the stress of running
On gasping lungs, sinews, tendons.
Why do I tire myself out?

Knowing the aches that will come.
Ah, but it is in the hope
That the next one will be better.

As muscles have memory
Of the strain they go through
They imprint the heavy load
Stronger they become in another time.

So it is not the pain that it seeks
It is the strength that flows
From stressed, tired muscles
That remember past exertions.

And so I sit here resting.
Knowing that tomorrow comes
With renewed power to spare
But oh, the pain is now here.

I resolve then as I learn
That I must follow the lesson
Transcend all the pain
And to rise up stronger than ever.

Push me away, shun me
I will come back crying for more
Knowing that the distance each push
Brings is the same distance of its return.

The further it comes returning
The stronger its impact on its landing.
As the physical laws speak
So does the heart and soul follow.

Not to say I am sado masochistic
Pleasure from pain i seek not
If only all happy days were possible
But then if it were, would loving be as exciting?
