Mahalaya coming
With the chants from
The Chandipatha
In the glory of
Devi Durga.

The autumnal time
With the white kash blooms
And the mist-laden seulis
Telling of the change in time,
The harvesting time
And commemoration of festivity.

The idol-makers busy with
Making the statues of
Durga, Mahishasura, Lakshmi,
Saraswati, Kartika, Ganesha.

The idol-maker carving out
And sketching the eye,
The eye of Bhababati.
