Man Poem by Esther Melbourne

Man

Stand tall
Sturdy
Hold your head high
With pride
Accept the things you can’t change
And change the things you can
Love you for who you are
Masculine
Ebony
Strong
Figure of authority
Carved from roots
Engraved deep down in your veins
Created in his image
Demigod
King
Magnificent

A history
Preserved by your
Four fathers
Who paved the way
For you and
your seeds
speak words of wisdom like
songs of Solomon
be not afraid and have
strength
courage
like king David humble your self
Nurture
Love take
Time
To mould them into
Mighty men and women
seek knowledge so that your foundation
elites to become dynasties
start from within
many times
things may seem to fail you
know deep down within
you are going make it
you are going be the best that you can be
Us women may not give you enough credit were its due
But let me be one out of many to
Say I appreciate
Love
honour and
respect you
Father
Brother
Son
Friend
Man.
