Many Ways To Say Ígálá Peace Poem by Kimberly Burnham

Many Ways To Say Ígálá Peace

"Uredo" inÍgálá
might be you say
peace might be
goodness of character
a likeable person
"abébó" is peace
and harmony

"Lafiya" peaceful as in
"soko u la edunfe lafiya u be ezhi"
"may God bring peaceful living to our town"
in Ígálá, Northern Yoruba, and Nupoid
languages spoken in Nigeria
"dèlii" peaceful

Tranquil as a river
laying still
waiting watching for the opportunity to flow
"dèlii" "lafiya" "abébó" "uredo"
influencing other languages
and cultures around the confluence
of the Niger and Benue rivers
