Marital Bliss - Poem by elysabeth faslund

The conjugal state of conniption...
Just a redundant description
Of your consort's, 'No you ain't! '
And your peaceful state of 'saint'...
Hood.

Why the contentious fight?
The answer is in sight
When the two of you realize
Ain't neither one of you right!

Drown dismay! Feed him grapes!
In a flimsy, naughty, nitey drape!
One more thing, that's no surprise...
Now you're fighting over shape and size,

Of apples and oranges.
Dewey Decimel System too!

How delightfully fun. Even after being conditioned to expect the unexpected in an Elysabeth Faslund poem, astonishment is still pretty much guaranteed. A squabbling couple blissfully jousting over the insignificant. My mind is reeling but what good is a mind if it can't reel a little every now and then? There is large helping of wisdom blended in with the humor. (Report)Reply

You are one funny lady and this piece, written with a huge dollop of irony, is pure slapstick! Clever girl. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ (Report)Reply
