Markus Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

Markus

Do not eat the eagle, vulture, kite and the falcon;
Do not eat the buzzard, raven, ostrich and the owl;
Do not eat the seagull, stock osprey and the hawlk;
For they are all unclean to your health.

Of an emission of semen to the love of an ovary,
Thereafter comes a baby into this world;
But try to teach your child the truth about life.

Do not eat the mole, large lizard, gecko and the monitor lizard;
Do not eat the chameleon, sand reptile, sand lizard and the snakes;
Do not eat the snail, turtle, frog and the pig;
For they are all unclean to your body.

Forty days to a male child and eighty days to the female child,
For she who has given birth knows the rules;
And you shall not have sexual relation with an animal.

Markus, you are the son of my sorrow;
and i have to borrow to keep you up.
Markus, you need to learn from your father always;
And do not eat the heron, hoopoe, bat and the rodent!
For they are all unclean to your heart.
