Martin Poem by Andy Salisbury

Martin

From Ireland's fair emerald isle,
came a man with a cheeky smile,
with twinkling eyes and infectious grin,
the hearts of all he met he did win,
laughter constantly filled the air,
wherever he was it was always there,
even when times were tough
and we all felt we'd had enough,
our spirits were lifted by that Irish brogue,
with a humorous comment from a lovable rogue,
that was the pure essence of the man,
to bring joy and laughter wherever he can
The 9th of June was a sad day.
when our friend Martin passed away,
no doubt in heaven he'll still have his smoke
and amuse the angels with a joke
although we are sad at his early departing,
we will remember him fondly our dear friend Martin.

(In memory of Martin Haughey who died on 9th June 2008 aged 47.)
