The sun brings out the best of me
that people want to see
I wear that mask to portray
the amazing me,
the one that always smile
and is optimistic about life
the one that is intelligent
and full of kindness and care
The moon brings the best of me
that people do not want to see
I wear that mask to portray
the real me,
the one that never smiles
and is struggling to keep alive
the one that makes stupid decisions
and is full of self-hatred
Sometimes these masks collide
and confuses the decorum of both worlds
and sometimes these masks switch
deconstructing the structure of my day
but sometimes these masks disappear
and I just shut down for the day
