Masks Poem by Gabrielle zulu

Masks

Rating: 1.0

When my heart fell
No one could tell
They walked around
Never made a sound
Or move to heal
This aching within this seal
They just went by
And watched me slowly die
But they didn’t see
The truth and hurting me
They saw the mask
That fulfilled the task
Of keeping the true me
Without a sound or a decree
Hidden from the human eye
Left inside to die
Alone and sad
And even blood hatred mad
But no one would know
That my soul was melting like snow
Because I didn’t want to let them in
To see my hurting sin
So as days went by
My heart would cry
But on the outside
I would remain
So stone cold sane.
