Matatu Ride Poem by Titus Keya Omwaka

Matatu Ride

For the poor
For sure
Is one of the best
They board the vehicles in zeal and zest

The roads are bumpy
The touts are jumpy
Ever explicit
Making the passengers tacit
Before you board, they act good
But when you do, they become rude
Their remarks cause a fright
And you wish to alight

These vehicles carry more than buses
Doctors, mechanics, children, and nurses
Where they're seated everyone curses
Even the learned teachers
And the everyday market day preachers

Matatu Ride
