Nyaboke Poem by Titus Keya Omwaka

Nyaboke

This is what I had to see
When I first landed in Kisii
Nyaboke had me smitten
Thinking of her made me sleep like a kitten
Before things went to the south of Mugirango
We did not tango
Now I look dull like a rotten mango

Every two minutes she requests for airtime
She nags me all the time
I wish I could sublime
If my feelings were acidic soil, I would buy lime
To neutralize this experience
Her actions leave me in suspense

Such a breathtaking beauty
Made me move from Nairobi city
To this small town
Her charming smile is now a harrowing frown
My love has made me look like a clown

Whatever she cooked for me here
Makes people's advice difficult to hear
That I should leave her alone
In fact I took a loan
To take Nyaboke and her daughter out
For the baby daddy has forsaken her
Maybe for her demeanor
But I won't listen
For she's my paramour
I may not like her manners
But love how she cooks me bananas.
