Mate Poem by Angela Dean

Mate

Silent hunter stalks the night
Lit ablaze by silvery glow
Moonbeams slashing, silent might
Eyes on fire, burning slow

Scent of prey caught unaware
Gleeful madness taking wing
A form of love that doesn't care
Harsh and wild, a fragile thing

Focus darkly, pour through the taste
Roll it through your soul
Of tainted prayers and fear encased
Surrendering nothing, release control

At peace with being torn apart
Remade within a single glance
Bring pictures on skin, a simple art
Complicate the timeless dance

Reaching deep to find within
Some trace of hesitancy
Finding naught but faith herein
A falling sense of cadency

Holding tight to bleeding heat
Fight to reach that distant shoal
The elusive thrum of natures beat
Surrendering nothing, release control

Small brush of fingers, gentle and light
Slid strong to flow away
Digging deep to feel touch ignite
Bared instincts gladly lead astray

Fling wide foolish doors which hold
Anything hidden deep inside
Of feelings wildly uncontrolled
And yearning ever long denied

Flame like lightning, intents convey
Burn a path toward midnight goal
Content to let it rage away
Surrendering nothing, release control

Captured sounds fall from the sky
Deaf and blind to all without
Taken inside shades who cry
Spirits silent screams drowned out

Spiral down the winding stair
Touch ground only to find
Wants and needs all laid bare
Soar up, you're flying blind

For what is lost if one should let
Forever take it's toll?
A world to gain, through tears and sweat
Surrendering nothing, release control
