Some people say old mate is gonna come to no good. Well he's a bit of a rough nut he doesn't always act like a normal dog. When theres trouble he doesn't hesitate to run right in. No doubt about it he's a bloody great mate.
Old Mate we've been through thick and thin. At times you've saved my back. When I needed a friend you were right there next to me.
He likes to bring home alsort of dead things. He likes to show them off. Sometimes he gets a bit on his nose. He's proud of what he's done. Down by the chook house a young King Brown was waiting for a fight.Mate you ran straight in a probably saved my life.
Old Mate we've been through thick and thin. At times you've saved my back. When I needed a friend you were right there next to me.
Well he's seen better days and now he just hangs around. He has lost a few teeth now and his coat is falling out. It'll break my heart after all we've been through. When I call his name he don't come.
Old Mate we've been through thick and thin. At times you've saved my back. When I needed a friend you were right there next to me.
Mate how the years roll by
You're always by my side
When I needed a friend
You jumped right in
Oh mate
