Mathematical Mystery Poem by Bianca Free

Mathematical Mystery

Where have I stood in this profound equation?
Was I less than, equal to?
Were the statements I made, proven true?
Have I been subtracted or replaced?
Am I the error to be erased?

This subject with its exceeding nature
Pounds and pounds upon every mind.
If not before, it soon will come to tenderize mine.
So then too will I be disturbed,
And compelled to read a Psalm.

One that will live forever on,
Even if it should burn in the heat of fire
Or drown in vicious streams of water.
One that can be lost with time,
But found with a strong heart's desire.

Its author may have suffered from insanity
And told of things that never were
Or never shall be,
But what good his disease has done for me!

Its enlightenment has been medicine
to my aching uncertainty.
Whether fairytales or reality, it be,
It has relieved me of this mathematical mystery.
