May I Prepare Poem by Gary James Smith

May I Prepare

Rating: 5.0

May I Prepare

May I prepare my heart today
To seek the living God
And make an exercise of faith
By reading His precious Word
To find a quiet place to pray
Where there's just my God and I
And meditate upon His Word
As it greets my watchful eye

Giving full attention too
This is the Living Word
And God was manifested in the flesh
As Jesus Christ the Lord
And as the Spirit leads me on
In the reading of it's content
May it bring home forcibly
The fact that I must repent

For greater grace cannot be found
But within these sacred pages
It is the testimony of the redeemed
Both now and throughout the ages
That God in Christ came forth to save
And to give earth true elation
Behold the Son! Emmanuel!
The Author of Salvation!

O great and greatly to be praised
O come Emmanuel
And bring new birth by Thy Spirit
For You doeth all things well
And my reward for venturing thus
To seek Thee on this day
An unlimited resource from You Lord
As Your Spirit came to stay!
