Gary James Smith Biography

Gary was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada in 1946 the 4th child of a family of six. He completed his grade 12 before marrying his wife Linda in 1966. He is the father of 10 grown children and the grandfather of 25 grand children and 4 great-grandchildren. In Jan 1972 at the age of 25, he accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour. Then, while attending a Bible Conference in Grand Rapids Michigan in Feb 1972 he surrendered his life to God after hearing a message on “Obedience” by an 82 year old preacher, Dr. Robert T. Ketchum. This was the most memorable week of his life, being saturated with the Word of God. Hallelujah! What a blessing! His great love is the King James Bible and the old hymns of the faith. Poems often come in the middle of the night, usually after reading God’s Word or a good Christian book, singing hymns of the faith or during his quiet time with God. The Holy Spirit impresses on the heart what to begin and the lines flow easily. This just has to be written down. His belief in the all sufficiency of God as Christ the Saviour Who lowered Himself to become man causes him to think on these things that burden his heart. What lays heavy on his heart is the peril of the lost, the burden for their souls, and the need for Gods Word to be proclaimed so that revival will come and people respond before it is too late. This is our hope eternal that Christ suffered for us, bled and died then rose again. Hallelujah! His desire is to encourage others with the simple gospel of Christ and also, that this ministry in poetry and song will be used for God’s glory and purpose. The expression of himself through poetry that God enables him to write has been shared with others from the beginning. We never know when we set out to do a required task who it will affect or reach with the message of salvation.)

The Best Poem Of Gary James Smith

Thyself For Me

Thyself For Me

Thyself for me...Thy life for mine
No gift more precious O Saviour divine
And in Thy Resurrection power
I find the grace to live each hour
And enjoy the love that flows from God
How precious...precious...is Thy blood

No want more greater can be known
Than to have our sins atoned
And embrace God's Righteousness
The which whereby we now can bless
To lead another soul to see
What transformation at Calvary

When we see sin for what it is
The enemy of God and Satan's bliss
And how by bondage we are fastened
Then to the Lord we should hasten
Praise God repentance is within our grasp
To admit our sin and of our Lord to ask

Dear God I hereby make my confession
I am a sinner and I've learned my lesson
I ask You now as I seek Your face
To forgive my sin and I'll accept Your grace
Salvation's Your gift for each needy soul
Thyself for me... that I be made whole!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
