Maybe - Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

don't know why I put myself in situations
that more than often
blow up in my face
and you would think
I would of learned
from the last occurrence
I'm back at square one
it's just the lonely I'm feeling again
where sometimes you want to feel
the closeness being with another brings
but then when you've been hurt so many times
you start to pull away, protecting your heart
not wanting to feel the sting that hurt brings
understanding that relationships
generally at the beginning
always start with an attraction
you just simply can't deny
and once you've found that sense of security
it all just shatters with one act of betrayal
so the question becomes
Can I really ever trust someone?
Should I hang in there and give it another chance?
so often people make mistakes but it's no fun
when you're looking for that one and only true romance
seem that someone to love
just don't seem possible
but somehow just maybe
I've found that with you
