Me Poem by Michael Saurer

Me

Me?
What about me?
Say?
What’s to say?

I’m just a man
Simple and true
Not one of a noble clan
Not one of a chosen few

A master
And a student
A fighter
And a wise man
A looser
And a champion

There are things I’m good at
Others I really can’t do
Some people truly think I’m mad
Others that I’m just true

A demon
And a good lad
A worker
And a lazy guy
A writer
And a man of deeds

I’m not one to show feelings
Often I just seem too cold
But that’s a wall to stop stealing
Of the heart that’s still bold

I can be a poet
For a chosen few
But I never knew
If they should know it

A coward
And a braveheart
A preacher
And a liar
A fellow
And a leader

Reading those words
I wonder once again
If she should read them
Or if they’d be with the birds
Just flying in the blue
even if they're true

Mine?
What can be mine?
Believe?
What’s to believe?
