Me Poem by Gabriel Lyron

Me

I plan on being me
Despite all the threats and insecurities
I plan on showing the world
I'll conquer every obstacle it throws at me
Being told I'm lame
Trying to make me feel ashamed
Being told I'm not black
I told them that's right
I refuse to be another number
I plan on being great
I refuse to let the clothes I wear define me
I don't want to be automatically looked at
When they ask who can rap
I refuse to regret who i am
The only thing I regret
Are the ones who set the standards for me
Doing drugs
Getting drunk
Getting all the girls you can
Getting the most in a certain time span
Being looked at as temporary
I want to be seen as legendary
As for being black I am not
The only thing I rep is Christ and A E TI
The only thing I can tell you
I plan on being me

A message I'm bound to respect in any man. Particularly one who wants to be one. Gw62
