Me Poem by Andrew Evans

Me

Why do I cry in this world of despair
because this pain is mine to bear
you'll never be able to outrun
this sadness
this madness
What have I become
As my world comes undone
I sit and I think
my mind is at the brink
of obliteration
They are a corporation
My brain has lost concentration
I've gone insane
Because of all the inane
the chattering
blood spattering
This room is covered
in hidden lies
Where the wise lie
where they go to die
and as I look to the sky
all I can ask is why
my wings have been clipped
I'm a bird wiithout flight
and I'm alone in this desperate plight
And try as I might
to fly like a kite
I know in the end I will crash down
just like my dreams
no one will hear my screams
I wish I could leave this place
I wish someone would embrace
me
but as far as I can see
there's no place to be
me
