Meditation: Life's Variety - Poem by Douglas Scotney

Given a toehold,
and there seems to have been only one on Earth,
life grew to give matter its most varied forms
and even came up with ideas
that threaten the continuation of that part of life
overly affected by ideas.
That's what life got
for its variety.
