Mercy Poem by Astell Collins

Mercy

Time has eclipsed as I drifted further from you
I did seek after your grace but sin distorted my view
Life’s challenges have divulged to me the mysteries of pain
And in my struggles I’ve seen the secrets of success and gain
You’ve promised to never leave nor forsake me
What have I done to deserve such security?
When sin wanted to abuse me and violate my place of safety
Your mercy stepped in and gave me sanctuary
It awoke me while I’m yet alive
And defended me while fighting and couldn’t survive
Your mercy speaks to me in ways unknown to many
And comforts me when from despair I needed delivery
You’ve always and will never stop loving me
This I know through your constant expressions of grace and mercy
