Is it not a man that persecuted the brethrens?
This question leaves my mind in knots,
For how can the one who once sought to kill,
Be now among those who speak God's will?
Wasn't Saul the one who stood in pride,
Persecuting believers far and wide?
How could he now be anointed and blessed,
And called to preach righteousness?
Is it not a man that persecuted the brethrens?
My heart cannot wrap around this concept,
For he was once a man of great sin,
How could he now be counted in?
Is it not a man that persecuted the brethrens?
Did he truly see the light,
On that road to Damascus in the night?
Was his conversion real and true
Or was it all some grand scheme to pursue?
Is it not a man that persecuted the brethrens?
This thought sends shivers down my spine,
For it challenges what I believe,
And forces me to question and grieve,
But then I remember the words of grace and mercy.
That even the worst can find their place in Christ,
Salvation is free!
In the arms of a forgiving God,
Who can turn the vilest into a sainted Lord.
And his transformation should not be doubted,
For it serves as a reminder to us all,
Salvation is free for all,
That God's love can conquer even the greatest fall.
