(Virtue Ethics Poem)

From a tiny egg, a caterpillar arises,
Its life's journey ahead, it slowly emerges
Into a world of wonder, filled with delight,
Growing, transforming, with all its strength.

As caterpillar grows and thrives,
From a barbaric and gluttonous, crawling being
To dignified and beautiful creature,
So are we, must shed skin no matter how painful,
We must start to undergo sufferings and strive,
Towards a new life, a different form,
Where we can soar and truly achieve
A life with moral excellence,
Living the best of ourselves.

We can achieve it
By listening to the voice of Virtue Ethics,
That leads us on a virtuous way,
That helps us shape our character, day by day,
Knowing what is the in between
Of every two extreme actions:
between proud and indifferent is humility;
between rash and anxious is patience;
between hate and being too possessive is love.

And just like the caterpillar's transformation,
Our journey may have some fear,
But with the virtue of perseverance and courage,
We'll reach our destination,
the end goal: living in Eudaimonia,
And fly high, with moral elevation.

So let us embrace this metamorphosis,
And strive towards virtue, without any doses,
For only then can we truly be free,
And soar like a butterfly happily.
