Mexican Apples And Other Delights Poem by Kay Bressner

Mexican Apples And Other Delights

Rating: 5.0

Walking about in woods again;
with Tarzan vines abundant

Where Spiderman must surely train;
where resurrection ferns wait,
humbled, for the rain.

Many captivating things
in this forest; some old,
some new, to me

Though, few birds, oddly;
perhaps the overhead routes of planes
has them scattered and intimidated.

Then, everywhere, and suddenly,
pendent scarlet lamps of Wax Mallow

A wildflower I'd never found before;
each path brings surprises, always.

There too, the ever sunbathing iguana;
yellow and black butterflies, monarch-ish

And a trail of bright pink blooms, pea-like;
blossoming as heaven sent valentines.
