It’s July again,
When Punjabi, Mirpuri, Hindi and Urdu
Medleys conquer Albert Park.
The lush green park bursts in a riot of colour,
Kaleidoscopic Saris and salwar-kameezs,
Overshadowing with summer dresses.
The enticing aroma of samosas, Pokras and
Sizzling kebabs drifting with the wind,
Enticing the young and old.
The clothing and jewellery stalls
Besieged by grannies, mothers and Aunties,
All in search of the latest fashion
And a bargain of course.
The young, like other twenty five thousand
From all over Britain
Lured by feast of music, entertainment and dancing.
It’s the month of
Middlesbrough 17th. Mela!
