Miles Away, But Never Closer Poem by Trever Barlow

Miles Away, But Never Closer

We're miles away, and had a few years apart,
but I am glad we could come up with this new start.

I cant begin to describe how happy I am that we are back,
The simple smile that you provide was something that I lacked.

Just when I was starting to feel like there was nobody in the world who cared,
You came back into my life with treasured stories we shared.

I'm so glad to have a friend with whom I can talk,
sometimes thats all I need to keep from hitting the bottom rock.

The way you fight off sleep to talk to me is so kind,
talking with you is just about all I can do to clear my mind.

I know we haven't been back in touch for very long,
but I can feel the friendship growing between us will be strong.

I remember leaving you years back took a lot, and
what I had learned about you I had never forgotten.

I can still remember the way you would smile and roll your eyes,
and now I bet you can hardly beat off the other guys.

Before I left I was too immature to appreciate you, because of that I'm sad,
now that I have grown, I think of you and what we might have had.

I feel somehow like a huge burden has been lifted from my shoulders,
The way I left with hardly saying goodbye weighed on my thoughts like boulders.

Now I feel like things between us are OK.
But I still can never get back those years I let slip away.

The things you've done in those years leaves me amazed and excited,
when I get to see you again I will be delighted

And until that time comes we can enjoy our little talks,
because even just chatting with you ROCKS!

You're Awesome, Kid, don't ever change!
