Millions of years ago
a newborn light
started its journey
across the universe
Day and night
it rushed forward
at unthinkable speed
in search for the recipient of its message
Lonely, exhausted
it travelled countless miles
through nothingness
perhaps questioning the sense
of a life like that
But even in the midst of pitched black space
it did not give up on the mission that it had
Millions of years fast forward
the goal is on the horizon
the light delights
as it´s finally approching its destination
a distinct place
aboriginals call the Earth
Somewhere there lives a strange creature
who was chosen to receive the beauty
that the universe can offer
The light finds its target and hits the atmosphere
Maintaining its cosmic speed
it falls down faster then a stone
yet in very gentle way
it knocks on the window of my room
It knocks but I do not hear
I am preoccupied by a louder light
It´s coming from between my fingers
It hypnotises my mind
as I´m scrolling down
afraid that I may miss out on something
So the prior light remains
on the other side of the window
not comprehending
that all that travelling was for nothing
While I´m lying in my room
not having a clue
that I´m just missing out on
a million-year-old greeting
