Minds Of Their Own Poem by Francis Duggan

Minds Of Their Own

Our biological clocks keep on ticking away
Every new dawn one nearer to our last day
Born as mortals and mortals do die
The same for the celebrity as you and i
The dead do not hear when their praises are sung
And it is surely a fallacy that only the good die young
I do know of some aged people quite kind in their way
Of other people negative things you never hear them say
Though their praises you never hear others sing
Here's to the people who do their own thing
They do not have people to look up to and admire
And fame and great riches they never desire
They may die as they live as not of the well known
But one can say of them they have minds of their own.
