Mini Van Dreams Poem by Leah Ayliffe

Mini Van Dreams

Rating: 0.5

His past was a long list of sins
He made girls fall like domino's
His eyes burned red in the night
Setting free a song of danger
I ignite
Sitting in his car
Windows frosted with ice
Winter night
But my heart was on fire
Raising hell in this small town
Toxic fumes I inhaled
Releasing surrender with each breath
Living in a hot boxed mini van with a gorgeous man
He turned down the music and dropped his own beat
Gangster in fantasy driving under stars
Dreams of the lime light and motel bars
My heart raced while my soul drowned
I’d follow him down to any depth
Where his reckless past drives me higher
Oh dear God
But God's dead
And you’ve moved me with a chemical high
In the material world of you, my sparkler
Without flame
In this mini van of big desires and broken seams
Nothing will ever compare
No one knows how to drive like you
My man, a dangerous man
A magnetic soul of beauty and freedom
Of a bad truth
Living fast in fleeting moments
Of a toxic winter night
