Morning Air Poem by Leah Ayliffe

Morning Air

Rating: 5.0

I want to love you forever in the morning of gray and pink skies that whisper like the breeze of your voice next to my thoughts.

Where the sun glitters its light on the hills of my heart and oceans of my soul where you and i are shipwrecked at the bottom of its floor.

It's that in between place of the black of night where wishes speak in the silver diamonds, and the bright of day where the noisy streets leave you feeling free with clarity. But the morning hours know the subtle lies of these times.

And we know, we know. I can love you in all these ugly shades. You trace the secrets quietly, but they disturb and tangle your fragile mind. Can you love me in these minutes, will we be the same when the clock ticks into the afternoon tide?

I stay still because I feel still. Not haunted by the horrors that shine through cracks at dawn. Peace in the mist, the road towards the path less traveled. We border it, you and I. Will you follow me?

I want to love you forever in the morning, where dreams are mangled and life bleeds real. I want to pull you out of the messy way they make you think. Come with me in the air and feel the simple truth of us. Sweet child I think you're scared, and that's okay for now.

Seek me in the morning air, that's where you'll find me waiting to love you.
