Mirage Poem by Joshua Wyatt

Mirage

I ran towards you with a hope in my eyes
My smile widened with each step i took

I had found my oasis in the desert
Or so i thought

I ran but never got closer
The smile fell from my face.
Making one last leap to capture it.
Yet i just fell through and hit the sand.

The hope was draining from my eyes,
running down my cheeks into the sand.
Wailing my fists into the ground,
screaming 'no noo noooooo! '

For it was all just a lie
an image created by my mind
The false promise of happiness.
It was all just a mirage.
