Mirror And Shadow Poem by Savva Emanon

Mirror And Shadow

In life, seek the friend who is both mirror and shadow,
a mirror, clear-eyed, unyielding to flattery,
offering back the truth,
sometimes tender, sometimes sharp,
but always faithful to what is real.

And seek the shadow, too,
the quiet presence stitched to your steps,
never abandoning, even in the dimmest alley,
a companion of dusk and dawn,
proof that you are never entirely alone.

For a mirror will not lie,
and a shadow will not leave.
Together they teach you:
that honesty is a form of love,
and loyalty is a form of grace.

Bless the rare soul who is both,
the reflection of your truest self,
and the silent witness who walks beside you,
through every sunlit meadow,
through every stormed and broken night.
