Misfortune's Arrows Poem by Abu at-Tayyib al-Mutanabbi

Misfortune's Arrows

Misfortune's arrows do upon me rain.
Countless arrowheads does my heart sustain.
As more shafts at my studded heart fly,
Steel upon Steel shatters the hardy twain.
