Missing You, Even If I'M Next To You Poem by Edwin Serrata

Missing You, Even If I'M Next To You

There's this wall between you and I.
I Cannot see but can hear you
Nothing else can be transferred
No gifts, or hugs, not even a simple hand shake

This wall was never there in the beginning
But, slowly this wall went up,
As new people came into your life,
The foundation started.
I saw ever brick laid until I couldn't see you anymore.
This wall screams loneliness, abandonment to me.

Time to time I try to break this wall
I want to see your friendly face again
This wall cannot be brought down by myself.

Every time I see you, I try to break the wall down and there are cracks beginning to emerge
I call to you and hear faint voices,
I think I hear 'love you' and I begin to hit the wall harder
Holes begin to appear and light starts to leak through
Memories flood through the gaps and happiness begins to exist in my life again
One last hit and the wall comes tumbling down

I see you on the other side,
Smiling, something I haven't seen in a long time
You lunge towards me and give me a hug, something
I haven't felt in a long time
I cry
My life is complete again.
