Mississauga Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Mississauga

Mississauga

Opaque-Africans facing each other, halo
Abdomen is pear, ready to deceive, hello
Frown is unclear from a distanced mind
Heart too unclear from a distanced smile
Counter and stool, their faces to outside

Jamaican-Scott, talk-wealthy and young
Of bitch mother, a runaway teen; proud

Steam freezes in air, cumulus the cloud
African-opaque has made beauty queen

On the Dundas West, in Starbucks café
Everyone here silent or talking, in need
Friendly feelings, deep in me to inspire

Busses-passengers, cold in Mississauga
Blood freezing in vein also ice in heart.

Winter is ruler “autumn you’re expired”
