Mom I Lost Poem by Dr. Rani Mathew

Mom I Lost

Cuddling me close to her bosom,
The biting chill of December she routed.
Huddled within the velvety lap,
Her tresses, soft, I scanned.
Gulping down the surge unbridled,
Her nipples, I sunk my teeth into.
Relishing the sweet sap that she fed,
Her unsung melodies of love I heard.
Locked in the circle of her fair arms,
Unscathed Idropped off.

Cosseted by cushioned palms,
like a peacock I paraded.
Strong and soft were the arms
that steadiedmy legs wobbly.
Sweet and pretty was my fairy,
digging up sweets, pastries and what more!
Together we played, together we danced
as one, we lived, I and my mom

Torrential was the rain that day
when from the clouds came the predator,
flapping wings terriblyluminous,
deafening drumbeatsin the trail.
Snatching her away, up he soared
to return nevermore!
Unfed, unclothed, unkempt I stay
awaiting another flutter and boom-
a second coming … she by me in a flash
hoisting me in her caring arms.
"Take her back, " I'll plead, "but me too…."
For His wrath I dread,
and annoy him I dare not………
