Money Chasers Poem by Chukwuebuka Adebayo

Money Chasers

Everybody is running,
No river is waiting for no ocean
I had once avoided the grace of patience
And pursued money on his feet too
Through hills in towns and bridges in cities
Took the spell from rich men's books
Said Money could be caught down
And held up in ones hand
So I ran, ran and ran after
But he wont allow me to beat it track
His own toes where that of wind
While the sun was gasing its hell-heats
And I felt madness was a common headache
I had seen many shadows driving huge cars
And coolness of heaven was coming on this man
Sitting beneath the tree's canopy
Looking at the bottom of the glass
As he sipped his iced wine down
Thinking of remaining it for his children
In case tomorrow never fulfill its vow of coming
The bad government refuse to step down
Men and their hunger have set the world burning
But there's no rich prodigal son
The Respect for money has it
Not and never the love for it
Though, the beautiful ones too in the world
Will certainly spoil beauty
One beauty is given to them.
