Monster Poem by haskell jackson

Monster

Monster

Never understood me and so you chose to hate me
You said that I was different, and that you couldn’t relate to me
With so much wrong going on in the world, and the evil with in,
You choose to hate me for my physical condition
Never mind the fact that I have feelings too,
When hurt I feel pain as do you
Disregard the fact that I too need air to breath,
You label me a monster and say statements that mislead
Disabled, not disregard, mentally challenged not retarded,
Warm and full of life, while you are mean and cold hearted
I define determination, don’t criticism me, and try to limit my
Expectations, sorry I don’t meet your physical specifications
Every step I take is my victory to claim, no I’m not a monster, and
Yes I have a name; I’m a product of true faith, the hope against all odds
Loved just like you, and created by God.
