Moon Gratitude Poem by Roneece Pieters

Moon Gratitude

The clouds stop floating and sink down to the earth.
They've just been introduced to gravity.
They release all the burdens weighing down their shoulders.

The waters no longer sway at the beach.
The ferris wheel no longer spins on its axis.
And tuck everlasting began.

The cement never dries.
Footsteps are imprinted repeatedly,
carrying a souvenir unbeknownst to them.

The signs and symptoms of discovery.

Then a heartbeat is heard far in the distance.
It all comes rushing at once.

The moon discovered its power to inspire dreams
& the child discovered its power to dream
Then we discovered how to fulfill our dream.

Time stopped.
We've been stuck here ever since.
Going through life fulfilling our dreams.
I learned the tools to fulfill my dreams
were here in my fingertips all along.

And all those signs and symptoms of discovery
Were manifested through the power of my entire being
Triggered by the dreams of my soul.
I just hope there's a way I can say thank you to the moon.
