Moon River Poem by Jim Boone

Moon River

Make believe destination -
imagination running rampant

Going lightly
through each visualization
inventing and reinventing
an acceptable me

After a New York moment
that would whisk me away
a fated checkmate
doing battle with all that
unreasonable reality.

Deep in the heart
there’s so much unrequited
love
before and after breakfast

rainbows without ends, friends
with or without intentions
suitors without reservations
Moon River, without
me.
1979/2010
