More Than Teenage Love Poem by B.M Lewis

More Than Teenage Love

We are walking around, holding hands.
The sun is bright but not warm enough to heat up the small town.
There is a light breeze that makes my fingers cold,
But I don't notice.
My face is lit up with a smile,
And yours is too.
I can see that you are really happy.
We are talking about life experiences.
I point out different things as we explore the town I grew up in.
I tell you stories from memories.
In return, you continue the conversation with a story of your own.
The sidewalk beneath our feet reflects our shadows.
Someone drives by and they smile at us.
I know exactly what they're thinking.
We are so warm together.
'Teenage love' as some would say.
You stop and pull me off to the side.
We are alone.
I see your face, your lips, closer to mine.
Kissing you is like watching angels fly.
Electric shock every time.
I wish that you could be inside my head.
Then, you would see how happy I am, just being close to you.
You would be able to watch every thought in my head just drain away.
You would be able to feel my soul drenched in warmth and pleasure.
You would be able to hear my heart hammering in my chest.
I asked God to send me happiness,
And He sent me an angel, He sent me you.
Your imperfectness makes you all the more perfect for me.
They may say 'teenage love'
But it means more than that to me.
When I look at you, I see someone who will protect us.
I see someone who is always full of surprises.
And always finds a way to make me laugh and smile.
It's so unbelievably hard not to smile at you.
I don't care if a whole courthouse is staring at me.
It still woudn't change the way I feel about you.
So, I'm sitting here now, thinking about my day with you.
My thoughts travel to other memories of you.
Laying in your lap,
Being enclosed in the circle of your arms,
Just being with you.
I like watching the way your eyes glitter when you are excited.
I like listening to the way you talk.
Some people judge us.
They watch us.
But it doesn't matter.
We are the only people in the world.
They cannot understand this kind of bond.
All they see is a teenage boy and teenage girl.
They don't see the way I look at you.
They don't feel the way I feel about you.
They just don't know.
This is more than teenage love.
This is our life,
Our hearts,
Our souls.
This is me.
This is you.
This is us.
