Mother Bird Poem by William McGehee

Mother Bird

Mother bird, sound no alarm
I do not mean your fledglings harm.

I'll walk by in thought unrest
And not disturb your quiet nest.

Or move so close that they might hear
My clumsy steps to cause them fear.

Your downy chicks can rest with ease
As I'll move softly as the breeze

To wonder down my chosen way
And pray your nest in peace doth stay
