Mother Earth - Poem by Shujaat Hussain

Our outset is the earth
End of us is the earth
How pray for the water
Oh trees! House is made of earth
Chest may be of iron-steel
But the heart within is of the earth.

Human sharp brain freezes
And fuses when frail seeds
Get life in the lap,
Come out from the earth
Bless greenery & beauty to scenery
Exemplary is of its worth.

It is a treasure of osmium,
Ormolu, diamond, silver and gold
Mines of minerals, palladium
Fuels, gas and mica in its fold
Man becomes gay on its finding
Since great demand so at a high rating
In the market it is sold.

Vegs, fruits and cereals are visible on the earth
Refulgent lily, lotus and rose
Elegant atmosphere all around does pose
Fragrance envelops the surrounding
Definitely its feature is astounding
Don’t you know?
Sole role of earth plays fir its birth?
And makes the mean of men’s mirth.

Reservoir of water contains
In the pot, controls current, tides and ebbs,
Salty, sweety or oily remains
All this happens on the quality of the earth.

Shining of the sun, beauty of the moon
Twinkling of the stars-a fascinating boon
If happy in the heaven is the Creator
Must we honour the earth as the curator.

What an irony of the earth
Let the feeble seeds grow
And consume metal and Alexander
Shatters pride of the force bearer
As gives us lesson like mother.

It becomes a matter of pride
When made of earth, man makes stride.
How mortal man boast of his potential
Can’t stand before earth in essential.
