Mother, We Are Grateful Poem by Grant House

Mother, We Are Grateful

Mother, you have been courageous in your life
Trails you blazed sometimes alone
Become well-worn and loved in time
By generations you created but may never get to know
Mother, we are grateful for who you are
The winding paths you follow
Your journey as difficult as it may be
A hero's quest for our tomorrow

Hear us out
Please let it in
Our lives are better
For who you have been
Pathmaker
Trailblazer
Hero
Friend

Our prayer:
Remind us to be grateful
The path we are on is there because our mothers passed this way
Their journey at least as difficult and long
Ours easier for their passing
May they ever feel appreciated
Our mothers who explored, innovated, and initiated
And in our turn
May we earn
The gratitude of others
World 'round our daughters, sons, cousins, friends
Their sisters and their brothers
Let us thank all the mothers and those who follow
Who blaze new trails for our tomorrow
